Wem Moss cycle safari

Meet at 11am at Edstaston Village Hall, SY4 5RF

14 September 2014

Meres and Mosses cycle safariA family cycle ride with a nature guide from the Meres and Mosses partnership around Wem Moss.

Meet at Edstaston Village Hall at 11am. We will also pick up riders at Newtown Primary School at about 11.30am.

Distance is about 12.5 miles (optional shorter ride of about 10 miles start/finish at Newtown Primary School), we will be back by 2.30pm.

Download the route map.

Under 16s must bring an adult.

Bring a picnic and drinks.

Please make sure your bike is roadworthy; with tyres pumped up and working brakes. “Hybrid” and mountain bikes will be most suitable for this ride – if you have a “road” bike with skinny tyres you may have to walk for a short unsurfaced section.

We will leave our bikes at Wem Moss for a short tour of the nature reserve on foot, so please bring bike locks. It’s recommended that you wear long trousers, long-sleeved tops and don’t wear sandals (even if the weather is hot!) as the ground at Wem Moss can be boggy and there are nettles and brambles.

Refreshments (tea, coffee, cold drinks and cakes) will be available to purchase at Edstaston Village Hall on return.
