Car clubs

What is a car club?

Car clubs offer members the use of a car without the cost and hassle of ownership. Membership is open to individuals and to businesses.

Cars can be booked online or by phone, for as little as an hour at a time.

Car clubs can reduce the demand for parking in historic town centres, and save money for drivers who do a low annual mileage.

What's happening in Shropshire?

The development of a car club in Shropshire has external funding from the government's Local Sustainable Transport Fund. Shropshire Council is working with groups of interested people across the county to set up a new social enterprise which will be responsible for the car club. The first vehicles will be available in Ludlow and Shrewsbury and there are plans for the scheme to expand to other towns if there is enough demand.
Day to day management of the car club will be provided by Co-Wheels who have experience of running successful car clubs in other areas.
