Over the past twelve months ShropshireLink has been under review by a Task and Finish group made up of Shropshire Council elected officials. A decision has now been made and the withdrawal of the current ShropshireLink service will take effect from Saturday 5 October 2013.

 

From Saturday 5 October 2013 the ShropshireLink booking line will no longer be able to take customer bookings or enquiries.

 

Despite having to make this difficult decision, Shropshire Council remains committed to ensuring that travel arrangements to essential services can be made by rural residents that don't have access to any other means of rural transport.

 

We have been working very positively with the Shropshire Community Transport Consortium who represent nine local Community Transport operators and future provision will be delivered where ever possible through these bodies.

 

Such future transport arrangements cannot be and are not intended to be a like-for-like replacement for the current ShropshireLink service. As such there are a range of current service levels and travel options that unfortunately, will not be available in the future.

 

For those that currently travel for free on the ShropshireLink as they hold a current bus pass, they will continue to travel for free on any replacement service from launch. Fare paying passengers will continue to pay to travel and the fare will be in line with the Community Transport operators current local policy.
